Found couple new sources and another steel company, French one at this time - Secosar. Went through the few German makers listings, found alloys I've missed before, and new additions. Overall, I've added over 100 new alloys to the database during last 2 weeks. Total number of the records in the database is now over 5200.

Added warning dialog to the graph when there is not enough space to display all alloys in the comparison. Apparently nobody ever looked into the settings menu which allows to increase the graph size ;) Now, there'a clear message. Also, fixed gradient bars, they are correctly filled with corresponding gradient texture, before they were shifted occasionally.

Dug through Euro makers sites and found out that a few alloys were still missing from the knife steel composition chart. Most interesting would be Japanese SRK-8 tool steel, which is a close relative of the Hitachi Shirogami 2 steel, although described as having the performance of the Aogami 2, which I really doubt. Still, a good steel. Another one was Bohler-Uddeholm Marss-500 steel. That one is not a new one either, its clone from Sandvik - 12C27M steel was in the chart for a while. Gave me some trouble, because there's numerous sources listing it as having 18% Chromium, which isn't correct, it has 14.50%. It took time to discover Swedish source stating that. Obviously it's no longer listed on any Bohler-Uddeholm site.

Variation on the NiTiNOL 60 theme. SM-100 alloy manufactured by Summit Materials. As per official description, it's a tweaked NiTiNol, easier to manufacture and major pros include high wear resistance and it's corrosion proof. Few custom makers are using it, there are some talks about limited edition production knives using SM-100, nothing solid so far. Also, dug up one more GIN-1 steel alias, G2, Spyderco used GIN-1 under this name, added to steel chart.

Found sortta ok catalog of the German company WSM Werkzeugstahl, even though very few tools steels in the catalog listed under tool steels section, still better than nothing. Almost there with 5100 mark.

Both components were updated today. Well, worked on them for about 2 weeks or so, went online today. Steel chart is 4.1 and steel graph is 3.8. As usual, you will need to do hard reload, or clear browser cache. Hilights include completely modal dialogs, improved settings dialog for the chart and few other speed and performance improvements. Highly recommended for the users to use setings dialog in the chart and select default standard somethign other than "All", will improve initial loading speed very considerably. You don't need to look at 5000+ alloys at once do you?

Found GOST 9KH4M3F2AGST, definitely can compete with AFNOR steels in terms of convoluted naming. Anyhow, high speed tool steel, used to make tools(according to description). Interesting specs, especially Ca in its composition, which I donno why is in there.

Replaced java text ticker on the home page with Javascript ticker. Lately newer browsers don't show much love for java and require java as a plugin, not providing built in module. because of that browser would display install plugin dialog instead of the ticker, etc. That's gone now, javascript is usually there. Fixed bug in the knife steel chart where table column manager was not working, caused by optimized css files. Works alright now.

Forgot to report :) On 10.21 next version was released to the Google android market and few others as well. Plenty of new features, bugfixes, stremlined UI to be more like the rest of it. Added "Recently viewed" feature as per user request. Dude who requested it, owes me 5 star rating for sure :)
