This time this is AISI 1085 steel. High carbon pring steel, so far I have confirmed info about at least one custom maker using it. Posting inquiry on knife forums helped to get that info.

AISI 1044 steel. Strange as it is, or may be not, but this relatively low carbon steel is also used in knives, specifically in throwing knives where toughness is more critical and you don't want to spend too much money too.

Phew. That was more complicated than I thought... As usual :) Anyway, client side scripting is up. Testes successfully on MSIE 7 and 8, FF 3.x, Chrome and Kmeleon. Added caching for the main table view, i.e. no query params except sort. Later I'll add server side caching to avoid db queries for static data and cache move chart views.

Client side sorting is 100% completed. Even found a bug today and fixed it too. However, caching properly is a problem and still struggling with the algorithm. There are several levels of caching involved to make matters more interesting...

It's yet another speed modification for the chart. Sorting currently is done on the server side, and reloading the whole table, issuing query, processing data from 3 tables... Client side sort will eliminate all that and will only take fraction of a second. Sorting is done. I have to deal with the sort indicators and other minor issues and it'll be up. Hopefully tomorrow. May be that will allow for at least some caching too.

As promised, the review was overviewed, revised and the new data provided by Henckels Japan was added to the relevant parts of the review. For the details, read on. I've added information about Miyabi line history, steel information, a little about heat treatment and future plans for another review if the knife comes back to me, I suspect it will :) Everything dulls, even the ZDP-189 steel at 65-67HRC.

This time, Japanese OU-31 PM tool steel. High carbon, particle metallurgy tool steel with addition of unspecified amount of Copper, made by Nippon Koshuha. As far as I know Spyderco tested it, but never used, and SOG did make few very expensive knives from it.

After publishing the Henckels Miyabi 7000MC series Santoku knife review, I was contacted by Hekcnels Japan head of ops. Nice guy, and what's really nice of him, he provided quite a bitof the info I was intrested in. First hand :) Updated review will be up soon.

Version 2.1 I guess. Removed all of the notes and help files(elements, quick help) from the initial load. That saves about 100K of data, well it's much less compressed, but still. Also, that reduces DOM element number form 10500 to about 7800. Speeds up javascript on the page considerably, especially for the slow browsers, like MSIE. Notes and help data are retrieved using AJAX async calls. Pretty much unnoticeable. Well, ejnoy faster chart and lemme know if there are any problems.

I'm not sure how did I miss it when the chart went online, this is in Benchmade catalog. Chinese 8Cr14MoV stainless steel.
