Updated and expanded chemical compositions for the following steels: all of the ones in Wx group - W1, W2, W5; Adjusted composition and added more standard names to A2 steel; Set W content to 0 for A3 steel, which is the correct value, and added UNS standard name for it.

I figure this is minor, but if you were browsing the table for a while it could become a lot more annoying. Simply put, I've changed the notes tooltip popups form sticky to normal hover tooltips. Move the cursor outside of the name text and it'll disappear. No need to click Esc or mouse on the close button. Well, that and I found a bug, which I will fix tomorrow.

user interface enhancement so to speak. Simply put, I've added highlighting of the selected(checked) allows. You can spot selected rows easier. Obviously, unchecking the alloy removes the selection color and restores default background and text colors. The feature also handles properly browser back function. If you select particular alloys and build the graph for them, when(if) you return to the steel chart page via back button the original set will be checked and highlighted properly.

I was supposed to blog that long ago, but I kept forgetting. Anyway, on November 22nd, me and Fred Haakonsen finalized the details of my future custom knife from Vanadis 4E steel. High alloy, quite exotic steel. Main point of interest is the extremely high hardness, target is 66HRC and above. Obviously this will be a relatively small, ~100mm blade, but a very thin edge... That's the idea. We'll see how this will work.

As usual I do take my time with reviews, collecting notes, usage data, sharpening, testing, sharpening again. But, once I start writing it, takes a day or two at max to complete it. This one was one of the most tortured review ever. I was writing those two pages forever, since mid November to be precise. Knife steel chart constant updates and real tight work schedule, plus Stalker CoP were the reasons for the delay... Well, it's up and you can check it out.

I got bunch of stuff form frozencpu. Can't say it was cheap. Waterblock from EK, shiz, that thing weight a ton, copper + acrylic. Distilled, ultrapurewater, UV die, water treatment, baarbs, now all that's missing the damn card itself...

I guess I could say massive updates. After digging Uddeholm, Latrobe, Carpenter and Crucible steel specs for few hours... Added 6 new steels - Weartec SF, Toughtec SF, 420 CW, AISI M1, AISI M7, and 1.3355. On top of that, added and corrected steel composition data and various standard names for the following alloys: X90CrMoV18, CRV1, Ravne23, Elmax, 52100, A2, A10, O6.

Well, after going through the Uddeholm catalog accidentally found that Rigor is AISI A2 steel. Combined two records, adjusted specs and added Rigor as alternate name for A2.
