Well, turned out 110X18MShD steel is the same alloy as 110X18M steel, which was already in the steel chart, except for the incorrect Molybdenum content, which was listed as 3%, indstead of 0.80%. Fixed that, both alloys are in the AISI 440C steel group, where they belong by composition, even though 110X18MShD is made using ESR/VAC technology, still, composition chart is just that, grouping alloy y composition, not by alleged performance.

It's been in the database for a while, however I had no exact info regarding Vanadium content, various sources all referring to the same quote about having dash of vanadium in it. Well, today on BF it the mystery was solved, and dash turned out to be 3.00% ;) So, now we have exact data, see Nippon Koshuha OU-31 steel composition.

After much deliberation and contemplation, pools and such, I've finally made myself to get started on iphone version of the knife steel chart. I do more then enough of iphone programming at work, and frankly, Android programming is much more fun, but alas, there's a lot of knife nuts with iphones(sadly)... ~30% of the smartphone users in knife world are on iphone, 60% on android, so I figured, what the hell... Updates as I progress. The thing is, this all coincided with web knife steel chart 4.0 development, which requires database schema change, so I have to work simultaneously on web version, android steel chart 3.0 and now iphone as well. Tablet versions will follow next year I guess.

Fixed navigation problem, preventing correct handling of the links in the alloy notes section. Market glitched just when I was updating the apk, the new version got picked up, but for some reason the date stays old, from 2.21. You may have to download the updated version manually.

Due to sudden splash of interest in now rather defunct CPM 440V steel, which is now called CPM S60V, I've decided to go over Boa review and update a few things. Well, long story short, that steel, CPM S60V never really worked well in folders, especially considering high costs involved. You could make it sortta perform, with thick, rough edge, but then again, what's the fun in that, especially in a folding knife...

strange thing, never had this happened to any of my folders and I have owned more than a hundred. My brand new TSEK 805-1101 M390 developed a problem, literally in last 3-4 days. Blade was perfectly centered and had very smooth action. Now, severely off center, to the right, almost hitting the liner. well when closed it does touch it. Can't say I have used it more than usual, just an average geek usage. Pretty much thing, in other words. Can't adjust it with pivot screw either. Called BCK warranty dept, guy was friendly and said, NP, send it it, we'll fix it. Well, knife is packed and ready to go tomorrow morning, first thing. I am still baffled, of all the knives I have used and tested, none had developed off center syndrome... Well, whatever, as long as they fix it and the fix is permanent, I am happy. I really like that knife.
