JUS is a standard from former Yugoslavia, currently used in Macedonia. May be in other countries from former Yugoslavia too. Anyway, added about 30+ names to the steel chart. More standards data coming.

Rediscovered the source that I bookmarked almost a year ago. Bunch of CSN standard names mapped to W-Nr, which for us means CSN to all 14 standards :) Plus a few more proprietary names for the stainless steels.

The review was posted couple days ago. Testing finished a week ago. One of the most abused knives I've ever had to deal with, and I am proud to have it repaired myself :) I disliked the handle, but for the rest, it's a good knife, with a good steel in it. For me though, the handle ruins it, that besides the fact that I don't like santokus all that much. However, objectively, I know not everyone shares my feelings towards santokus and if you like them and the handle works for you, it's worth checking out. Detailed review is now online.

I figured flat lists were harder to navigate. Added collapsible lists, reviews are grouped by maker's name and the close/open button is attached via javascript. If you have javascript disabled, you still get the list grouped by makers, but not expand/collapse features.

Finally, I've got correct specifications for all of the SKH series alloys in JIS standard. All high speed alloys, equivalentsof AISI M and T series Molybdenum and Tungsten high speed steels. Also fixed several incorrect references between international standard names in the database for M and T series steels. SKH57 still remains a suspect, several manufacturers and dealers provide conflicting info listing it in M44, M48 and T42 group alloys. Investigating.

Not a knife steel, low on carbon, as a consequence, very low on hardness too, but still used in budget and show knives.

After adding few more fixes, I figure it is no longer .0n type beta. So, version was renamed to 3.1, full release. Can't promise there are no other bugs to catch, but I'm working on it. Todays fixes included: German W-nr standard was not working as a directory, now all standards are fine; Steel chart was going out of bounds for certain search criteria, including using AFNOR as a steel directory, fixed that too. Few minor changes in style files, etc. And now I can work on knife steel chart for android full time, or I hope I can.

Found another German maker - Geruk, amongst other things they make bunch of popular, high end PM steels, and for some reason also list Thyssen-Krupp steels equivalent to theirs. Good source for the infe :)

Got my hands on the stel catalog, and dug up a lot of interesting data. Specifically, exact composition specifications of the couple dozen JIS, EN and W-Nr steels. Having precise data is of couse much better, than simmply assuming foreign country steel standard spec matches US exactly. For example, I just learned that Euro equivalent of the AISI D3 tool steel - X210Cr12 steel, doesn't have neither Tungsten nor Vanadium in it. Yet they are listed as equivalents in all catalogs. Missing 1% Vanadium from the composition can be significant you know. Fixed couple minor UI bugs.

After long years, I don't really remember since when I became aware of the Opera browser to be honest, but I never bothered to support it either. Too many things for one person, testing, reviewing, work, personal life and then half a dozen broswers to support/test every single thing with... Anyway, as far as I can tell based on 2 days of testing, all works fine on Opera as well, there are couple known bugs, but those are not browser specific. Knife steel composition chart which was the reason for most of the complaints and Japanese Kitchen Knife Types And Styles database are working fine, actually I found html related bug in the Japanese knvies database because of the Opera browser. At least something good came out of all that besides supporting a new browser ;)
