10C28Mo2(Alleima) - Introduced in 2017. 10C28Mo2 was specifically designed for razor blades and knife applications as per Alleima's own documentation. Knife applications would most definitely mean knife blades :) Emphasis was on the fine, evenly distributed carbides and high corrosion resistance. By design goals, 10C28Mo2 would be targeting the same areas as Sandvik 12C27M and alike. Primary carbide former is Chromium(Cr) at 14%, aided by small amount of Molybdenum(Mo) which also helps with hardenability and trace amount of Nitrogen(N). Even at 0.08%, the nitrogen addition forms nitrides and carbonitrides that further refine the carbide structure. Alleima does state dishwasher safe tools and knives in their promotional materials, but I still wouldn't put a good knife in a dishwasher. In the end, we have an alloy with very good corrosion resistance, very fine carbide structure, and respectable hardness 58-60HRC. Fairly easy to sharpen, and overall maintenance should be fairly easy given those properties(corrosion resistance and easy sharpening). 10C28Mo2 is a fine grained steel with good stability and toughness. This isn't an alloy for tasks requiring high abrasive wear resistance, but should do well for what it was designed and optimized for, kitchen knives, razor blades and other tools with similar uses.
