1.5024(W-Nr) - Medium carbon steel, by description it is a structural alloy(springs, washers, plates), not so sure how it ended up in knives, but I have seen even stranger alloys in knives. There isn't much in the alloy to talk about good wear resistance or high hardness, but for large, tough use knives it would be of some use.
