1095(AISI) - Simple, yet quite popular blade steel. Very popular with knifemakers. Sort of de-facto default carbon steel. Rusts easy though. Mostly you'll encounter it in 58-60HRC range. Several makers take it all thee way up to 64-65HRC. Sandvik makes very pure equivalent of this steel under the Sandvik 20C Shock Absorber name. One of the main downsides would be very low abrasive wear resistance, there isn't much in this alloy to form carbides.
