11KH4B2MF3C2(UkrNIISpecStal) - DI37 is a unique steel from UkrNIISpecStal. I've tried to search knife steel database before inserting it to find a suitable group, but no, nothing really is close. DI37 is a tool and die steel according to UkrNIISpecStal. Contains relatively small amount of Chromium, about 3.5%-4.2%, which is clearly for carbide forming and couple other benefits, but will not make it stain resistant or even semi stain resistant. There are other strong carbide formers present as well, including V and W, and trace amounts of Mo. Carbon is around 1.05%-1.15%, so by all accounts, it is a high carbon steel, which is expected I guess for a die steel. What I find interesting is the presence of unusually high amount of Silicon, 1.40%-1.80%. That much silicon is typically seen in shock resistant tool steels, well at least as far as knives and cutting tools are concerned, that's where you'd see that. Several knives made out of DI37 can be found mostly from Ukrainian knife makers, so far I was unable to find a review though. Blades are rather large, so I suppose that speaks towards shock resistant steel qualities. Maximum working hardness is stated as 61-62 on the maker site, and the knives I've mentioned above are all all specified at that hardness as well. If you have more info, please do let me know.
