L4(AISI) - Low alloy specialty tool steel. High carbon steel. Not sure why, but on several listings L4 is cited as stainless, which is very far from the truth. Gotta be a type and then copy paste spread the misinformation on the net. Tough steel, usable for large knives, but at high hardness could make a decent light cutter. L4 is neither stain nor wear resistant, but has more to offer than plain carbon steels from AISI 10xx series and alike.

Manufacturing Technology - Ingot
